Is it fair that average to wealthy families that live in what most would call a nice neighborhood have better schooling and higher paid teachers than those who don’t have anything even close to that kind of life? Personally, I believe that this topic can easily cause me to contradict myself. During the discussion in class I listened more than I gave my input simply because I don’t know about this topic on a personal level. I’m from a small town where everyone likes everyone, no one cares about race, and we all have a nice school and good teachers. I mean there is just one school.
However the topic to me all comes down to racism or some kind of judgment. It’s obvious that if you are from a wealthier family you will get more than what a lower classed family would receive. When the statement or talk about the kids being bused to a nice higher standing school was brought up it really interested me. It is ridiculous how their race made the majority pack up and build a different school. How come some cannot just accept others? The world would be so much different if we would all stop judging and just accept someone for them. After all they’ve been that person since they were born you can’t change them now.

I see where your coming from. And I agree with you as well. When we talked about this in class I listened a lot more then I spoke out becuase I have different feelings on the subject and feel that I might say something that makes me a hypocrite.
The fact that this is happening to children is one of the most frustrating aspects of this problem. Like you say, they were born into this, they didn't choose. We (yes, we - you and me), as adults, choose to allow this to continue.
And don't be shy in class. It doesn't matter if you don't know about all these different schools. Share your impressions about the reading with us. Tell us about your town with only one school.
I think you have a good point. I guess its a motivational thing. If you or your parents aren't extremely driven it can be hard to perservere past discrimination, social standards, or mere financial status. It is defintely harder for a child from the ghetto to suceed compared to a child from white suburbia.
Ya I agree, the world would be different if we stop judging people and just accecpt them. It's sad how society is so divided based on how different they are.
